Dell Expands HPC Portfolio with AI Server and Research Initiative
Dell Technologies introduces the PowerEdge XE8812 server designed for HPC and AI workloads. The company also collaborates with AMD to establish the Sovereign AI Innovation Lab at the University of Cambridge, enhancing AI research capabilities.

Dell Technologies has launched the PowerEdge XE8812 server, aimed at high-performance computing (HPC) and artificial intelligence (AI) workloads. This server features Nvidia's Vera-Rubin-NVL4 architecture and supports up to 144 GPUs per rack, catering to organizations conducting large AI models or scientific simulations.
The server is liquid-cooled, optimized for high compute density, and offers increased CPU cores, memory, and GPU storage compared to its predecessor. Concurrently, Dell and AMD are developing the Sovereign AI Innovation Lab at the University of Cambridge, designed to provide resources for AI application development, utilizing the Zenith supercomputer and the Sunrise AI system. This strategic move reflects the growing convergence of HPC and AI demands in the industry.
