Department of War Invests $35.6M in Trilogy Metals for Critical Minerals
The Department of War has announced a $35.6 million equity investment in Trilogy Metals to secure essential minerals for defense. This initiative aims to strengthen national supply chains for copper, cobalt, and germanium, vital for the Defense Industrial Base.

The Department of War (DoW) has executed a $35.6 million investment in Trilogy Metals Inc., acquiring a 10% equity stake and 7.5% in penny warrants, totaling a 17.5% economic position. These funds will enhance exploration and infrastructure at the Upper Kobuk Mineral Projects in Northwest Alaska, managed in partnership with South32 Limited.
The investment supports the Ambler Road Project, which is critical for accessing strategic minerals and is projected to create over 2,730 construction jobs in Alaska. The UK's mineral deposits include one of the highest-grade undeveloped copper deposits globally, pivotal for defense systems and technological infrastructure. This investment may mitigate supply chain vulnerabilities and bolster national security through domestic resource development.
