Des Moines Seeks State Support for $40M Expansion Creating 160 Jobs
Electrical Power Products proposes a $40 million manufacturing expansion in Des Moines supported by $2 million in tax incentives. The project will generate 160 jobs, marking the largest state-aided job creation effort in the city since 2011.

Electrical Power Products is pursuing $2 million in tax incentives for a $40 million expansion of its Des Moines facility, anticipated to create 160 jobs. This marks the largest job creation initiative backed by the state in Des Moines since 2011, according to Iowa Economic Development Authority data.
The new facility will focus on manufacturing electrical infrastructure for data centers and the utility market, with construction costs projected at $20 million for the building and $10 million for machinery. The Des Moines City Council has endorsed the application for financial assistance, which includes $1.2 million in investment tax credits and $775,000 in sales tax refunds. This expansion follows Flex's acquisition of Electrical Power Products for $1.1 billion in May and aligns with long-term growth strategies driven by modernization and data demands.
