Drainage System Maintenance in Caracas Under Special Plan
Maintenance of the drainage system between Los Ilustres and Plaza Venezuela is being supervised by Nahum Fernández to prevent flooding. The project involves cleaning, installation of new pumps, and public awareness efforts to maintain sewer efficiency.

A maintenance project is underway on the drainage system between Paseo Los Ilustres and Plaza Venezuela, supervised by Caracas' government head Nahum Fernández. The initiative employs 70 workers to clean nine grate sections and seven manholes, using machinery to remove 67 cubic meters of sediment obstructing water flow to the Guaire River.
Two new 30 HP submersible pumps have been installed, alongside repairs to protective grates. Awareness campaigns are being promoted to prevent waste accumulation, a major cause of flooding and traffic issues. Future efforts will include replacing light fixtures and beautifying public spaces, aiming to enhance mobility and safety.
