Drogheda Social Housing Tenants Facing Heating Bills Up to €2000 Monthly

FLOW CONTROL

Tenants at Tullybrook Court in Drogheda are experiencing heating bills as high as €2000 per month, raising concerns among local officials. Councillor Declan Power reported that families, many of whom are one-parent households, are struggling to pay these bills and have sought assistance from the Money Advice & Budgeting Service.

Clúid, the housing body managing the estate, acknowledged issues with heat pumps contributing to elevated utility costs and is working to improve the situation. Councillor Eric O'Donovan highlighted the inadequacy of some housing units and stressed that high bills are unacceptable. Louth County Council officials confirmed that no tenant should be expected to pay such amounts.
