Drone Attack Threat on SS Richard Montgomery Shipwreck Could Cause Mass Casualties and Tsunami
The SS Richard Montgomery shipwreck, containing 1,400 tons of explosives, poses a risk of mass casualties and tsunami if attacked. Aircraft were banned from the area due to threats from hostile nations. Experts warn that a potential explosion could generate a five-meter high tsunami, affecting areas in Kent, Essex, and the Isle of Grain.

The SS Richard Montgomery shipwreck in the Thames, which holds 1,400 tons of explosives, is at risk of drone attacks from nations like Russia and Iran. Last year, aircraft were prohibited from flying over the site due to security concerns.
The ship, which sank while armed with high-explosive bombs and incendiary devices, is viewed as vulnerable. Experts warn that an explosion could result in a five-meter tsunami, causing significant damage and loss of life, particularly affecting Kent, Essex, and the Isle of Grain, where the UK's largest liquefied natural gas terminal is located.
