DZYNE Technologies has received a contract from the US Air Force Research Laboratory valued over $6 million to further develop the Long-Range Grasshopper autonomous resupply drone. This project aims to enhance a runway-independent unmanned aerial system capable of transporting up to 500 pounds (227 kilograms) of cargo across challenging terrains.
The drone features a length of 160 inches (406 centimeters) and a wingspan of 240 inches (610 centimeters), utilizing a portion of its fuselage for cargo. The initiative supports the military's logistics strategy while improving flight endurance and manufacturing capabilities.
The work will be conducted by Ondas Sentinel, the defense division of DZYNE, which was enhanced in July 2026. The successful flight tests demonstrated vital functionalities such as autonomous deployment and navigation.
