East Feliciana Parish Police Jury Considers Resolution Against Carbon Capture Projects
Local legislators in East Feliciana Parish are pushing for a resolution to oppose carbon capture and sequestration projects in Louisiana. During a meeting on February 16, the Police Jury tabled the resolution for further information. Concerns were raised about health risks and the safety of proposed carbon dioxide injection wells, especially given the presence of abandoned oil wells. Additionally, the jury renewed a tax exemption for first responders and proposed regulations for solar farms.

The East Feliciana Parish Police Jury is considering a resolution opposing carbon capture and sequestration projects. During a February 16 meeting, Reps. Roy Adams and Robby Carter expressed concerns about the safety of carbon dioxide injection wells, especially regarding their impact on local communities.
The jury tabled the resolution awaiting more information. In addition, they renewed a $250 property tax exemption for first responders and introduced a proposed ordinance regulating solar farms requiring traffic, drainage plans, and decommissioning strategies. The solar farm proposal was sent for public hearing.
