EcoGuard Global Launches Carbon Credit Platform for Philippines Coconut Industry at Davos

CARBON CAPTURE

At the World Economic Forum in Davos, discussions on the carbon market highlighted the Philippines as a leading emerging market. The launch of EcoGuard Global, a carbon credit workflow platform built on Hedera technology, redefines carbon credit processes to ensure compliance and verification.

The Philippine coconut industry, with 347 million trees over 3.6 million hectares, plays a significant role in carbon sequestration, absorbing 12.81 tons of CO2e per hectare annually. Joint programs between the Confederation of Coconut Farmers' Organizations (Confed) and various government departments are projected to sequester approximately 637.8 million tons of CO2 over 20 years. The integration of digital tools aims to provide farmers immediate financial rewards for carbon sequestration through automated systems, enhancing economic stability and supporting national climate goals.
