EcoSafi Secures £600,000 for Clean Cooking Initiative in Kenya
Energise Africa launches a £600,000 campaign for EcoSafi, a clean-cooking venture in Kenya, targeting household energy transformation. The initiative leverages carbon credits under the Paris Agreement to provide cookstoves at no upfront cost.

Energise Africa has initiated a two-part bond offer totaling £600,000 to support EcoSafi, a Kenyan clean-cooking project. The first bond aims to raise £300,000 and has garnered over 80% of its target since its launch.
EcoSafi's model utilizes carbon credits from the Paris Agreement to distribute efficient cookstoves for free, thus displacing charcoal use and reducing CO₂ emissions. Each stove is paired with affordable, sustainable fuel pellets derived from sugarcane waste, reducing cooking costs significantly.
The campaign aims to manufacture 9,864 stoves, ultimately preventing 75,346 tonnes of CO₂ emissions and improving health outcomes by decreasing indoor air pollution. This innovative financing model is crucial as it addresses both environmental and economic challenges in Kenya.
