Eeco-X Heat Pump Achieves EPC A for ByPass Nurseries Garden Centre
ByPass Nurseries has achieved an EPC rating of A for its new 2,000m² facility, surpassing the initial target of C by implementing the Powrmatic Eeco-X air source heat pump system. This project exemplifies the potential of low-carbon HVAC solutions in enhancing energy efficiency in commercial buildings.

The new ByPass Nurseries garden centre has exceeded its EPC target, achieving a rating of A by utilizing five 30kW Powrmatic Eeco-X air source heat pumps, which provide an efficient, fully electric heating and cooling solution. The project, executed by Bentley Building Contractors and Greenfuture Energy, integrated a high-performance building envelope alongside the HVAC system, resulting in a 67% reduction in carbon emissions compared to traditional gas systems, saving approximately 17 tonnes of CO₂e annually.
The building, constructed over nine months, also achieved an airtightness result of 0.69 ACH. Additionally, 100 SolaX solar PV panels were installed, further enhancing the project's sustainability by generating renewable energy for the heat pump. This initiative reflects the growing demand for energy-efficient solutions in commercial spaces, particularly in the context of rising regulatory pressures to reduce fossil fuel dependence.
