The Engine 25 Restoration Project in Butte, Montana, has reached a key milestone with the installation of a replica bell, originally stolen in 1958. This project has garnered over $140,000 in funding over the past year, supported by contributions from Town Pump, the Port of Montana, NorthWestern Energy, and the Dennis and Phyllis Washington Foundation.
Next steps include reconditioning the engine built in 1899 and installing plaques, with completion expected by year-end. An additional $60,000-$70,000 is needed to finalize the project. Engine 25 is among the few surviving Northern Pacific steam engines globally and is on display at the Butte Civic Center.
