EU Implements Carbon Removal Certification Framework for Agriculture
The European Commission is developing a regulatory framework for carbon capture in agriculture, known as CRCF, to standardize practices. This framework aims to create a verifiable market for carbon credits, enhancing legal certainty for farmers.

The European Commission is initiating the Carbon Removal and Carbon Farming Certification Framework (CRCF) to standardize carbon capture activities in agriculture. This framework will provide uniformity to various initiatives previously operating under disparate voluntary market rules.
A critical first step is defining a standardized measurement for one ton of CO2, which will facilitate the certification process and convert carbon capture into an economic asset for farmers. This initiative aligns with the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) and aims to ensure productivity while promoting a resilient agricultural sector. Establishing a credible regulatory framework is essential for the legitimacy of the carbon market.
