The EU has initiated the P4Q project to strengthen knowledge and production capacity for quantum technologies, focusing on standards and production techniques for quantum chips. The project aims to reduce light loss in chips and fibers, maintain stability at low temperatures, and integrate photonic circuits into systems like quantum computers.

P4Q includes 29 partners, developing Process and Assembly Design Kits, and focusing on platforms such as silicon nitride and lithium niobate. The project consists of eight work packages aimed at scaling test and production facilities, with a total investment of 50 million euros from the EU and 11 national governments.
