Evansville Area Plan Commission Denies Rezoning for Proposed Septic Disposal Facility
The Evansville Area Plan Commission denied a rezoning request for a septic disposal facility proposed by TSF near Skylane Airport. Over 20 community members opposed the project, citing concerns about its location in a flood zone. The petition can be overruled by the Vanderburgh County Board, which will meet again on February 24. The facility is intended to address a disposal problem as the Evansville Water & Sewer Utility will cease accepting raw septic waste this summer.

The Evansville Area Plan Commission denied TSF's request to rezone land near Skylane Airport for a septic disposal facility. Community opposition centered on the site's location in a flood zone, raising concerns about environmental safety.
The current agricultural zoning prohibits the construction of a septic tank and pumping station. As the Evansville Water & Sewer Utility plans to stop accepting raw septic waste in July, TSF argues the facility is necessary to continue services. The Vanderburgh County Board can overrule the commission's decision, with their next meeting scheduled for February 24.
