Explosion in Qatar's Ras Laffan Injures 54 and Leaves 18 Missing
A factory explosion in Qatar's Ras Laffan industrial zone injured 54 individuals and left 18 unaccounted for. The incident, attributed to a 'technical malfunction,' raises concerns over production capabilities in a region critical to global liquefied natural gas supply.

An explosion at a factory in Ras Laffan, Qatar, resulted in 54 injuries and 18 individuals reported missing. The blast, classified as an 'internal explosion' by the interior ministry, occurred during the start-up of operations at the Barzan local gas supply facility.
The facility is located in proximity to the world's largest liquefied natural gas hub. Recent Iranian drone strikes had previously forced Qatar to halt LNG production on March 2, and further damage from subsequent attacks is projected to reduce LNG export capacity by 17% and require 3 to 5 years for repairs. This incident poses risks to Qatar's energy sector stability.
