Fastmarkets Introduces Daily CBAM Price Assessments to Enhance Carbon Cost Transparency
Fastmarkets has launched two daily price assessments for the EU's Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) to provide real-time visibility into carbon import costs. This initiative is crucial as CBAM evolves into a financial obligation, enabling companies to manage carbon cost exposure effectively.

Fastmarkets has launched two daily assessments to address transparency in carbon costs under the EU's CBAM. As CBAM transitions to a financial obligation, companies face significant uncertainty regarding certificate costs, confirmed only after each reporting period—quarterly in 2026 and weekly from 2027.
The assessments, including the CBAM Certificate Index and CBAM Certificate Builder, offer insights into expected costs and historical auction data, aiding in pricing and risk management. This initiative is pivotal as it allows firms to navigate compliance decisions with improved predictability, mitigating the financial impact of carbon costs in trade. Failure to adapt could lead to increased financial risks for businesses reliant on accurate carbon pricing.
