First Robot-Operated Kiosk Launches in Hong Kong
A 24-hour kiosk in Hong Kong is entirely operated by a humanoid robot named Xiao Gai, enhancing automation in retail.

The Hong Kong Investment Corporation finances a 24-hour food kiosk in Hung Hom, fully managed by the humanoid robot Xiao Gai, which is based on Galbot's G1 model. The robot, measuring 1.68 meters tall and equipped with mechanical arms, handles product stocking, selection, and payment processing.
The kiosk aims to increase foot traffic by up to 40% due to its novelty. Planned expansion includes ten major cities, aligning with broader automation trends in Asia, such as Japan Airlines testing humanoid robots at Haneda Airport to address labor shortages. This reflects a strategic push towards integrating AI into everyday life, enhancing convenience while creating new opportunities.
