FLEXBOT Project Develops Collaborative Robots for UK Fruit Farms
The FLEXBOT initiative, backed by Innovate UK, aims to enhance productivity and reduce waste in fruit farming through the integration of autonomous robots. This project is crucial as growers face labor shortages and rising costs, necessitating innovative solutions in agricultural logistics.

The FLEXBOT project, led by Antobot, focuses on deploying collaborative robots (cobots) to streamline logistics for English soft fruit farms. By improving the efficiency of moving harvested crops, the project aims to alleviate labor shortages and enhance crop quality.
Collaborators include the University of Surrey, Dogtooth Technologies Ltd, and the UK Agri-Tech Centre, with support from four innovative businesses. The project will test a flexible cobot platform that can adapt to various suppliers and technologies.
Additionally, the University of Surrey will provide AI expertise to improve robot navigation and environmental mapping. The expected outcome is a commercially viable automation solution that could revolutionize agricultural logistics, ultimately supporting sustainable food production.
