Fraser-Fort George Regional District Considers Heat Pumps for Exploration Place and Beaverly Fire Hall
The Regional District of Fraser-Fort George is set to discuss heat pump installations at Exploration Place and Beaverly Fire Hall on February 26. A climate action plan identified Exploration Place as the highest energy consumer in the region.
A feasibility study estimates replacing its HVAC system with one gas absorption heat pump (GAHP) would cost $346,200, with $200,000 in rebates and 456 tonnes of greenhouse gas savings. Two heat pumps would raise costs to $394,800, maintaining the same rebate and saving 465.3 tonnes.
For Beaverly Fire Hall, one heat pump is projected at $238,200 with a $178,650 rebate and 121.7 tonnes of emissions saved, while two would cost $286,800 with a $200,000 rebate. Funding options include provincial grants to cover costs.
