FSU's Michael Shatruk Receives Novo Nordisk Fellowship for Quantum Materials Research in Denmark
Michael Shatruk from Florida State University has been awarded a 2025 Novo Nordisk Fellowship to study quantum materials at the Technical University of Denmark. The fellowship, worth 752,000 Danish kroner (approximately $117,000), will fund research on quantum molecule-based materials using advanced electron-diffraction crystallography techniques. Shatruk aims to investigate molecular spin qubits within metal-organic frameworks to enhance quantum computing stability and power.

Michael Shatruk, a professor at Florida State University, has been awarded a 2025 Novo Nordisk Fellowship, valued at 752,000 Danish kroner (about $117,000), to research quantum materials at the Technical University of Denmark. His project focuses on developing molecular spin qubits in metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) to improve quantum computing stability.
Shatruk will utilize advanced electron-diffraction crystallography to determine the structures of sub-micron MOFs, which are critical for quantum technologies. The FSU Initiative in Quantum Science and Engineering, which Shatruk directs, received over $20 million from FSU to advance quantum research.
