GCM Secures Global Rights to VHD Technology for Cooling Applications
GCM has finalized a global rights deal to acquire the VHD technology, designed for scalable manufacturing and addressing cooling challenges in high-performance computing. The deal involves no upfront cost, with future payments capped at $5 million, contingent on achieving revenue milestones. Independent testing indicates VHD outperforms traditional materials in thermal performance, promising cost savings for data centers and military applications.

GCM Corporation has completed a deal to secure global rights to VHD technology from Cerex and inventor Professor Charles Christopher Sorrell. This agreement provides GCM with full ownership of the technology, which is aimed at enhancing cooling efficiency in high-performance computing and AI data centers.
The transaction incurs no upfront costs, with future payments structured in three tranches totaling $5 million based on revenue milestones. Testing shows VHD surpasses aluminum and copper in thermal performance, potentially reducing cooling system demands and costs for various applications. This deal supersedes a prior 2024 technology transfer agreement.
