GE Aerospace Signs MoU with HAL for Fighter Jet Engine Production in India
General Electric's aerospace division has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Hindustan Aeronautics Limited to manufacture fighter jet engines for the Indian Air Force. This agreement, announced during Prime Minister Modi's visit to the US, aims to produce GE's F414 engines in India as part of the IAF's Light Combat Aircraft Mk2 program. The collaboration is seen as a significant step in enhancing defense ties between India and the US.

GE Aerospace has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Hindustan Aeronautics Limited to produce F414 fighter jet engines for the Indian Air Force, coinciding with Prime Minister Modi's visit to the US. The agreement supports the IAF's Light Combat Aircraft Mk2 program and aims to strengthen Indo-US defense cooperation.
GE will work with the US government for necessary export authorizations. The MoU builds on GE's longstanding partnership with India, which has included the delivery of over 1,600 F414 engines globally. Additionally, India is expected to finalize several defense contracts in FY 2026-27, including the acquisition of 114 Rafale jets and transport aircraft.
