German-Swiss Consortium Wins €3 Billion Contract for Driverless Trains in Copenhagen

A German-Swiss consortium of Siemens Mobility and Stadler Rail secured a €3 billion contract to supply driverless trains for Copenhagen's S-Bane, with initial services starting in 2032.

In December 2025, German exports rose 4.0% month-on-month to €133.3 billion, ending two years of decline and reaching €1.57 trillion for the year, driven by demand from the EU and China. However, exports to the US dropped 9.3% due to tariffs, reducing the trade surplus to €52.2 billion.
A German-Swiss consortium, Siemens Mobility and Stadler Rail, won a €3 billion contract for 226 driverless trains for Copenhagen's S-Bane, with services starting in 2032. The project aims for full automation by 2040, marking significant advancements in driverless rail technology.
