Germany and Ukraine Strengthen Defense Ties and Reconstruction Efforts
Germany has agreed to finance the supply of several hundred Patriot missiles to Ukraine and signed a defense cooperation agreement. This strategic partnership aims to bolster Ukraine's military capabilities and support its EU membership aspirations amid ongoing conflict with Russia.

Germany and Ukraine have formalized a strategic partnership that includes a defense cooperation agreement and a Memorandum of Understanding for industrial reconstruction. Key points of the agreement involve Germany financing several hundred Patriot missiles through Raytheon and additional air defense systems from Diehl Defence.
The partnership aims to enhance military support through air defense, long-range weapons, and joint development of drones. Chancellor Friedrich Merz emphasized the importance of European involvement in peace processes, while Ukraine’s President Zelenskyy advocated for deeper security agreements. The agreement also includes a push for Ukraine's EU accession, contingent on continued reforms, particularly in anti-corruption measures, as Germany calls for the swift release of a €90 billion EU aid package blocked by Hungary.
