GMDA Re-invites Bids for Behrampur Sewage Treatment Plant Project
The GMDA has re-invited bids for the Behrampur sewage treatment plant project, valued at Rs 191 crore, after failing to finalize bids six months post-tender release. This initiative aims to enhance sewage treatment capacity in response to increasing wastewater from urbanization along the Southern Peripheral Road (SPR).

The Haryana GMDA has reopened bidding for a sewage treatment plant (STP) and pumping station in Behrampur, initially tendered in October 2022 but canceled due to administrative revisions. The project, sanctioned in June 2022, includes construction of a 400 MLD main pumping station and a 100 MLD STP, aimed at strengthening sewage management as urban development accelerates.
The tender opening is scheduled for April 28, with completion expected within two years post-allocation. Currently, the Behrampur facility processes 170 MLD, but only 30% of treated water meets tertiary standards. An upgrade is underway to enhance treatment quality, reducing BOD from 30 mg/litre to 10 mg/litre for broader reuse applications.
