Great Lakes Cheese Acquires 900 Carbon Credits from Kirtland Hills Project Over Three Years

CARBON CAPTURE

Great Lakes Cheese has purchased 300 carbon credits from the Kirtland Hills carbon credit project to offset its global emissions. The company plans to acquire an additional 600 credits in 2026 and 2027, totaling 900 credits over three years.

The Western Reserve Land Conservancy, which manages the project, uses the funds from carbon credit sales to monitor and protect forests in Northeast Ohio. The Kirtland Hills carbon credit project was registered in June 2024, protecting a 64-acre property that serves as a natural buffer against stormwater runoff and flooding. The project aims to sequester carbon and support ecosystem health.
