Greece Launches Five New Microsatellites to Enhance Space Industry
Greece has successfully launched five microsatellites, part of a broader initiative to advance its space sector. This effort aims to strengthen local technological capabilities and integrate Greece into the global space market.

Greece has initiated the launch of five new research microsatellites, designated ERMIS-1, ERMIS-2, ERMIS-3, PeakSat, and Optisat, which are now in orbit. The project is part of the National Microsatellite Program and aims to demonstrate new technologies developed by Greek institutions, including the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
The satellites were launched from Vandenberg Space Force Base in California and are expected to provide valuable data for applications in communication, mapping, navigation, and disaster management. This initiative, backed by the Ministry of E-Government and the European Space Agency (ESA), emphasizes Greece's commitment to developing a robust space ecosystem, which could enhance economic growth and security.
