Grubhub Launches Drone Delivery Pilot Program in New Jersey with Dexa
Grubhub, in partnership with Dexa, will pilot drone delivery of takeout orders for three months starting March 18 in Green Brook, New Jersey. The service is limited to customers within 2.5 miles of participating locations and items weighing under four pounds. Deliveries aim to be completed within 30 minutes of ordering. This initiative follows Grubhub's previous use of sidewalk robots and is part of a broader effort to automate its delivery operations.

Grubhub will begin a three-month pilot program for drone delivery of takeout orders, starting March 18, in Green Brook, New Jersey, in collaboration with Dexa. Customers must be within 2.5 miles of Grubhub's restaurant and can order items under four pounds.
Deliveries will be tracked in real-time and are expected to be completed within 30 minutes of order placement. The drones, operated by Dexa, will fly at 400 feet and utilize a winch to lower the delivery box to the ground.
Dexa maintains an air traffic control team to monitor flights. This program aligns with Grubhub's strategy to explore automation in delivery methods.
