HAPS SE2 Solar Airship Sets Endurance Flight Record
The solar-powered HAPS SE2 airship completed a twelve-day endurance test, covering over 10,300 km from New Mexico to Brazil. A pre-commercial test is scheduled for summer 2026, focusing on telecommunications and environmental monitoring applications.

The HAPS SE2, developed by Sceye, successfully completed a twelve-day endurance flight, achieving a new record. Starting on March 25, the airship traveled approximately 10,300 km, landing in international waters off Brazil on April 6.
The airship, measuring 82 meters and utilizing solar power for sustained flight at approximately 20 km altitude, is designed for telecommunications and environmental monitoring. Sceye intends to initiate a pre-commercial test in summer 2026 in Japan, connecting to Softbank's core network. The airship's lithium-sulfur batteries provide a power-to-weight ratio of 425 Wh/kg, allowing for consistent energy storage and operational stability.
