HCLTech Leads $300M Funding Round for Sarvam AI at $1.5B Valuation
HCLTech plans to lead a $300 million funding round in Sarvam AI, investing $150 million and raising the startup's valuation to $1.5 billion. This investment signals a shift in Indian IT firms' strategies towards AI amid increased competition and pressure to innovate.

HCLTech is set to invest $150 million in a $300 million funding round for Sarvam AI, valuing the company at $1.5 billion post-money. Bessemer Venture Partners will contribute $50 million, with the remaining $100 million from Nvidia, Prosperity7, Activate, Glade Brook, and existing investors.
This round is poised to be the largest private market funding for an Indian startup this year. Sarvam AI's previous funding was a $41 million Series A in December 2023. The company recently launched two large language models in February, enhancing investor confidence. This funding highlights the growing importance of AI technologies for traditional IT services, which have faced criticism for slow adaptation to automation challenges.
