Heineken Invests EUR 12 Million in Low-Carbon Technologies in Romania
Heineken Romania has invested EUR 12 million in modernizing its Craiova and Ungheni breweries, focusing on reducing energy consumption and enhancing production efficiency. This initiative aligns with the company's Net Zero Production goal by implementing advanced energy-efficiency solutions.

Heineken Romania has completed a EUR 12 million investment in its Craiova and Ungheni breweries, aimed at facilitating low-carbon production through modern technology. The project, executed in 2025 over nine months, involved upgrading equipment and installing high-capacity heat pump systems that recover residual heat from production processes.
It is projected to reduce energy consumption in specific processes by over 40% compared to 2022 and prevent approximately 3,000 tons of CO2 emissions annually. This initiative not only enhances energy efficiency but also prepares the facilities for future decarbonization technologies and access to green financing, impacting the Romanian beer industry significantly.
