Helios Nordic Energy Finland Oy is targeting a data center development exceeding 80 hectares in Lapinlahti, Finland, near the Alapitkä substation. The site is approved for a capacity of 80-100MW, with potential expansion to 500MW.
A zoning initiative has been submitted, with municipal discussions scheduled for later this month, and construction may commence next year. The project is anticipated to generate hundreds of jobs during construction and over a hundred permanent positions thereafter. Helios is also developing a solar plant in the area, aligning with the increasing demand for reliable data centers in Europe, which could enhance local economic vitality.
