Hertz Mexico Achieves 651 tCO₂e Carbon Offsets in 2025 Through Forest Conservation Project
Hertz Mexico neutralized 651 metric tons of CO₂ equivalent (tCO₂e) in 2025, marking a 99.7% increase from 2024. This increase is part of the company's decarbonization strategy, achieved through retiring carbon credits from the San José de Miravalles forest conservation project in Durango, registered as CAR 18179 and certified by the Climate Action Reserve.
The project supports biodiversity and water resilience for local Indigenous communities. Hertz Mexico, operated by AVASA, emphasizes the role of carbon credits in addressing emissions from current vehicle technology.
The company plans to involve customers in its climate strategy in 2026, aiming to double mitigation volumes again. Despite progress, Hertz Mexico suspended new electric vehicle purchases in 2024 due to resale and repair challenges.
