Hitachi Secures €481.6 Million Contract for Turin Metro Line 2 Automation
Hitachi Ltd. has obtained a €481.6 million contract from the City of Turin for the design and delivery of trains and signalling systems for the fully automated Metro Line 2. The contract includes a base section valued at €388.5 million and an optional section for €93.1 million. The complete line will span approximately 28 km with 31 stations, and the first section is scheduled to open by 2033.

Line 2 will cover around 28 km with 31 stations, set to open its first section by 2033. Each train will accommodate 404 passengers and will be fitted with the latest CBTC signalling system for fully driverless operations. Additionally, trains will utilize Hitachi's HMAX system for real-time monitoring and asset management, enhancing performance and efficiency.
