HMWSSB Advances Godavari Water Supply Project Phases 2 & 3 for Hyderabad
The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) is accelerating the construction of the raw water pump house at Mallanna Sagar as part of the Godavari Drinking Water Supply Scheme Phases 2 & 3, with an estimated cost of ₹7,360 crore. The project aims to supply an additional 20 TMC of Godavari water to Hyderabad, enhancing urban water supply and supporting the Musi river rejuvenation. Construction includes a 3,000 mm diameter pipeline and a 1,170 MLD Water Treatment Plant, targeting completion within two years.

Hyderabad's water supply will be enhanced by the Godavari Drinking Water Supply Scheme Phases 2 & 3, which aims to provide an additional 20 TMC of water. The project costs ₹7,360 crore and includes construction of a raw water pump house at Mallanna Sagar, a 3,000 mm diameter pipeline extending 50 km to Ghanpur, and a Water Treatment Plant with a 1,170 MLD capacity.
Of the 20 TMC, 17.5 TMC is designated for drinking water and 2.5 TMC for rejuvenating the Musi river. The project began in September 2025, with a target completion in two years, and will utilize a mobile application for monitoring and geo-tagging pipeline segments.
