Huhtamaki's Franeker plant in the Netherlands has transitioned its automation systems to CC-Link IE Field, enhancing the production of over 11 million egg cartons weekly. This upgrade from older serial networks to open industrial Ethernet technology has improved diagnostics, reduced troubleshooting time, and simplified maintenance.

CC-Link IE Field now serves as the standard for future automation projects at the plant. The new network structure allows for a star topology, increasing network reliability. The integration of Mitsubishi Electric’s frequency inverters reduces component requirements. Future upgrades will also incorporate CC-Link IE TSN for digital manufacturing needs.
