IBM Plans 511,710 Square Feet Expansion for Quantum Computing Facility in Poughkeepsie
IBM proposes to construct approximately 511,710 square feet of new buildings at its Poughkeepsie campus to enhance Quantum computing capabilities. This expansion is expected to create 200 permanent jobs and substantial construction employment, contributing significantly to the local economy.

IBM intends to construct three new buildings totaling 511,710 square feet at its Quantum computing facility in Poughkeepsie, New York. The main structure, a Quantum Computing Center, will encompass around 467,450 square feet, along with a utility building of 7,660 square feet and a generator facility of 36,600 square feet.
The project aims to enhance local employment, with an estimated investment exceeding several hundred million dollars, and will demolish existing buildings covering 181,000 square feet. Energy needs will be met by current infrastructure, although future demands may necessitate a new electric substation. Environmental studies will assess noise, visual, and traffic impacts, with the local Planning Board expected to lead the review process.
