ICE Selects Ericsson for 5G Network Deployment in Costa Rica
Instituto Costarricense de Electricidad (ICE) has partnered with Ericsson to deploy a 5G network in Costa Rica, enhancing the nation’s digital infrastructure. This initiative includes advanced features like network slicing and built-in cybersecurity, aiming to improve overall connectivity in the region.

Ericsson has been chosen by ICE as the primary supplier for its 5G Standalone network, providing both RAN and Core solutions. The project covers the deployment of 5G RAN products and a dual-mode 5G Core, including advanced management capabilities, network slicing, and cybersecurity measures.
Additionally, ICE plans to utilize the Ericsson Intelligent Automation Platform for network optimization and resilience. The collaboration underscores a long-term commitment to enhancing connectivity in Costa Rica, adhering to strict regulatory frameworks and security standards. This deployment is expected to bolster ICE’s service offerings and support economic growth in the digital sector.
