IDSurvey's Commitment to Green Business: A Pathway to Indonesia's Sustainable Future

CLIMATE POLICY, REGULATION & CARBON MARKETS

At the Katadata Sustainability Action for the Future Economy (SAFE) 2025 event, Arisudono Soerono, CEO of IDSurvey, articulated a clear commitment to fostering green business practices in Indonesia. Addressing the audience during the session on empowering green business for a sustainable future, he stressed that climate change is not merely a global issue; it has become an undeniable reality affecting daily life. The increasing frequency of heatwaves, floods, and droughts around the world serves as a stark reminder of the consequences of human activities on the planet.

Soerono asserted that green business is not just a trend but a vital necessity for future sustainability. He pointed out that companies are both significant consumers and producers of emissions, yet they possess the resources and capabilities to drive change towards a greener economy. In this context, green business emerges as a crucial ecosystem encompassing various aspects, including transparent corporate governance through ESG principles, waste-to-energy initiatives, and decarbonization efforts aimed at reducing carbon emissions.

The logistics sector, for instance, can evolve by implementing green smart ports, while physical infrastructure can transition towards energy-efficient green buildings. Products can be labeled eco-friendly, and the tourism industry can embrace eco-tourism, which not only conserves the environment but also empowers local communities. Additionally, the circular economy presents a framework for ensuring resources are reused effectively, and sustainable financing underpins ongoing green projects.

As a holding company in testing, inspection, certification, and consulting, IDSurvey oversees several subsidiaries and operates a vast network of laboratories. With 87 labs and 144 operational branches, including 12 international services, IDSurvey positions itself as a strategic partner for businesses embarking on green initiatives. Soerono highlighted the organization's role as a bridge between sustainability standards and the business community, noting the significant opportunities for companies eager to adopt greener practices but unsure where to begin.

The company offers three main pillars of green business services: first, decarbonization to help reduce emissions and manage carbon; second, an eco framework ensuring resource efficiency and environmental compliance; and third, ESG sustainability as a roadmap for long-term business viability. Through these pillars, IDSurvey guides clients toward tangible green transformations.

Furthermore, IDSurvey is advancing its efforts by integrating scientific and technological solutions. Laboratory data, once mere figures, is now transformed into digital insights correlated with satellite-based pollution mapping. This innovation allows stakeholders to detect emissions early, issue timely warnings, and manage emissions more effectively through a scientific approach.

Notably, IDSurvey has achieved real successes, including a project converting palm oil mill effluent into biogas, generating significant carbon credits, and assisting a manufacturing company in assessing its carbon footprint, which led to reduced energy consumption and access to global markets.

Soerono concluded by emphasizing that we are at a pivotal moment in history, where we can choose to continue with outdated practices or embrace innovative approaches. At IDSurvey, the choice is clear: to be part of the solution and contribute to a sustainable future for Indonesia.

The event, marking its sixth year, embraced the theme "Green for Resilience," responding to climate challenges and affirming the importance of a green economy in strengthening national development resilience and sustainability. Through high-level forums, workshops, interactive exhibitions, and creative collaborations, SAFE aims to galvanize action toward an inclusive and resilient economic future.
