India plans to have five semiconductor factories operational by 2026, with three already producing. The newly inaugurated CG Semi facility in Sanand is projected to manufacture 20 crore chips annually, targeting 500 crore chips yearly.
The Indian semiconductor market, valued at approximately $38 billion in 2023, is expected to grow to $100-$110 billion by 2030. The government has approved 10 semiconductor projects across six states, totaling investments of Rs 1.60 lakh crore.
The establishment of semiconductor clusters in various states will create jobs and strengthen the economy. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to achieve self-reliance in critical components and advance the Make in India campaign.
