Installation of ECOMOD Heat Pump at Ely Cathedral's Almonry Kitchen
The installation of an ECOMOD air source heat pump at Ely Cathedral's Almonry Kitchen supports carbon reduction efforts while preserving heritage. The project replaces a gas boiler with an efficient heating solution, enhancing sustainability in historical buildings.

Ideal Commercial Heating has installed an ECOMOD 290HT 27kW air source heat pump at The Almonry Kitchen, improving heating and hot water efficiency while reducing carbon emissions. This initiative is part of a refurbishment programme at Ely Cathedral, aimed at modernizing the facility with sustainable technologies.
The heat pump operates efficiently with a Coefficient of Performance (CoP) of up to 4.94 and utilizes natural refrigerant R290, which has a Global Warming Potential (GWP) of three. Its design allows for high flow temperatures of up to 75°C, facilitating integration into existing systems without major alterations. The project demonstrates the feasibility of modern heating solutions in heritage settings, potentially motivating similar upgrades in other historical sites.
