Intel Acquires Full Ownership of Ireland Chip Plant for $14.2 Billion
Intel is set to regain complete ownership of its Ireland semiconductor facility by purchasing a 49% stake from Apollo Global Management for $14.2 billion. This strategic move reflects Intel's renewed confidence amidst increasing demand for AI processors and aims to enhance operational control and profitability starting in 2027.

Intel will acquire Apollo Global Management's 49% interest in its Ireland chip facility for $14.2 billion, funded through cash and $6.5 billion in new debt. The facility, critical for manufacturing PC and data center chips, is strategically located in Leixlip, near Dublin.
This buyback follows Intel's previous sale of the stake for $11.2 billion in 2024, which was a response to financial strain. The decision highlights a shift in Intel’s strategy under new leadership, as the company focuses on reclaiming lost market ground in the AI sector.
Owning the plant allows Intel to streamline operations and maximize production output. The move aligns with increasing global emphasis on domestic semiconductor production and positions Intel competitively in a rapidly evolving industry.
