Interlune Secures $6.9 Million NASA Contract for Lunar Resource Development
Interlune has been awarded a $6.9 million contract from NASA for a lunar resource development project, focusing on extracting volatile gases from lunar soil. This initiative aims to advance the understanding and commercialization of lunar resources, supporting a sustainable lunar economy.

Interlune has received a $6.9 million SBIR Phase III contract from NASA for an 18-month project aimed at developing technology for lunar resource extraction. The focus is on measuring and extracting volatile gases, including helium-3 and hydrogen, from lunar regolith.
Key components of the payload include a robotic arm, thermal processing devices, and a mass spectrometer designed for energy efficiency. The mission, set for 2028, is positioned to enhance lunar exploration and support the Artemis Base Camp.
The initiative could lead to significant revenue streams from helium-3 sales, projected to fund further lunar infrastructure development. The project's success is crucial for establishing a sustainable lunar economy and maintaining U.S. leadership in space exploration.
