Iraq Develops Roadmap for EU Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism Alignment
Iraq is creating a national roadmap to align with the EU's Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), focusing on its effects on key industries such as oil, aluminium, iron, and cement. The initiative aims to enhance Iraq's integration into global trade while addressing environmental standards related to carbon emissions.

Iraq is developing a national roadmap to align with the EU's Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), focusing on its impact on key industrial sectors. The Ministry of Environment chaired a committee meeting with various government entities to discuss the implications of the CBAM for high-emission products, including oil, aluminium, iron, and cement.
The roadmap aims to support Iraq's integration into global trade systems while addressing environmental requirements related to carbon emissions. The EU's CBAM seeks to impose a fair price on carbon emissions from carbon-intensive goods entering the EU and promote cleaner industrial production in non-EU countries.
