Israel Approves Major Fighter Jet Acquisition Amid Regional Tensions
Israel's Defense Ministry plans to acquire two fighter jet squadrons, expanding its fleet significantly amid ongoing regional conflicts. This move is part of a broader NIS 350 billion military buildup strategy designed to enhance national security and air superiority over the next decade.

The Israeli Defense Ministry has received approval to acquire a fourth squadron of Lockheed Martin F-35s and a second squadron of Boeing F-15IA aircraft, totaling an estimated NIS 350 billion budget for military enhancement. This decision follows recent conflicts and aims to bolster the Israeli Air Force's (IAF) capabilities against evolving threats.
The acquisitions will increase the F-35 fleet from 50 to 100 and the F-15IA fleet from 25 to 50, integrating advanced technologies and support systems. The IAF is expected to develop autonomous flight capabilities and advanced defense systems, ensuring operational readiness for a decade. This substantial investment reflects a shift in defense priorities post-conflict and addresses the need for modernization of aging aircraft.
