Italy Launches Eight Eaglet II Satellites, Expanding IRIDE Program
The IRIDE program has successfully deployed an additional eight Eaglet II satellites, bringing the total to 24 operational satellites. This initiative, backed by over €1 billion in funding, enhances Italy's capabilities in Earth observation and geospatial data production.

Italy's IRIDE program has launched eight additional Eaglet II satellites, increasing the total in orbit to 24. This launch occurred on March 30, 2026, from Vandenberg Space Force Base, California, as part of the Transporter-16 mission with SpaceX.
The full deployment of the Eaglet II constellation, comprising 16 satellites, is expected by the end of 2026, supported by an investment exceeding €1 billion from PNRR and national funds. The satellites will provide critical data for monitoring environmental issues, infrastructure, and public safety, further solidifying Italy's leadership in Earth observation technology. The successful deployment underscores the capacity of the Italian space sector to meet stringent timelines and operational goals, which could enhance national security and resource management.
