Japan's government has approved an additional 631.5 billion yen in subsidies to Rapidus, increasing total funding to 2.354 trillion yen. This initiative aims to revitalize the semiconductor sector and support advanced manufacturing processes.

The Japanese government has committed an additional 631.5 billion yen in subsidies to Rapidus, raising total subsidies to 2.354 trillion yen. These funds will support the front-end and back-end processes of semiconductor production, with plans for Rapidus to begin trial production of 2-nanometer semiconductors by year's end and full-scale production next year.
Concurrently, up to 90 billion yen in subsidies will be allocated to a semiconductor and AI computing project involving Fujitsu and Japan IBM. This dual investment strategy aims to foster a robust semiconductor ecosystem in Japan, potentially bolstering the country's position in global technology markets.
