Kazakhstan Enhances Water Supply for 200,000 Hectares by 2026
Kazakhstan aims to modernize water supply systems for irrigated land by 2026, focusing on extensive canal reconstruction. This initiative involves collaboration with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the Islamic Development Bank, ensuring improved irrigation efficiency.

Kazakhstan is set to enhance its water supply systems for 200,000 hectares of irrigated land by 2026. The project includes the reconstruction of 717 kilometers of canals, with 502 kilometers already completed.
Collaborations with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development have led to 46 completed projects and 21 ongoing. Additionally, nine projects are supported by the Islamic Development Bank, involving the reconstruction of 88 irrigation canals.
Automation efforts are underway on 103 canals covering 968 kilometers, along with 270 previously reconstructed canals. The modernization plan includes designing for 264 new projects integrating advanced water management systems.
