FLOW CONTROL

The Kerala Finance department will fast track the approval for a 190 million litres per day (MLD) water treatment plant in Aluva, funded by the Asian Development Bank. This project will benefit Kochi Corporation and five municipalities, along with 13 grama panchayats in Ernakulam.

A high-level meeting led by Water Resources Minister Roshy Augustine addressed the water shortage crisis in the district. A Cabinet approval is also being sought for increasing water pumping capacity from the Aluva pump house by 10 MLD. Additionally, plans to construct a storage tank to replace a collapsed one at the Thammanam pump house were discussed, alongside utilizing an unused overhead tank in Vaduthala to improve water supply.
